The following questions are intended to capture more specific information about your project: why you are doing it, what you hope to achieve through it, and what work you will do to carry it out.

Before answering these, you might find it helpful to look at the project planning toolkit and other resources we have available on the Advice and Resources section of our website.

C21
*What is the need or opportunity you are trying to address through this project, and how do you know it exists (e.g. any research or surveys you've carried out)? We want to understand more about the reasons for what you are proposing to do.

Maximum 2000 characters which is approximately 300 words. Further evidence of the need or opportunity can be uploaded in a later section.

C22
*

What is the long term goal of the project? What will be the ultimate change, difference or impact in your work with children and/or young people that you expect to see once you have completed it?

For example: To see more young people become connected with St Anywhere’s Church, and contributing positively to the life of our town in practical ways

Maximum 1500 characters, which is approximately 200 words

C23

Now please describe the short to medium term changes (or outcomes) you are aiming to see that will contribute to the long term impact you've described in the previous question.

Example:

  • Increase social, personal and faith development opportunities for young people

  • Reduce anti-social behaviour in the town

  • Improve the way young people in the town are perceived by local residents

  • Increase opportunities for young people to engage in local projects that will make a positive difference to our town

Now please list the things required to deliver or achieve the changes or outcomes you've listed above, so that you eventually achieve your longer term goal. What do you need? This might be more equipment, more people, more resource of some other kind?

Alternatively - or perhaps as well - what work or activities do you need to do? For instance you might need to transform a building (or part of one) or build a new one. You might need to start a new regular programme, group or activity of some kind.

List these things below, and if possible, please state a target date by which you aim to achieve each one - unless it will be an ongoing activity of some kind for which a target date isn't applicable - in which case please leave the date field empty.

Example:

  • Start a weekly youth club, offering young people the opportunity to come together to socialise, explore faith, learn new skills such as…

  • Publicise the new youth club by….

  • Recruit and train some youth work volunteers so that they are able to…

  • Refurbish the unused meeting room in our church to make it a youth-friendly space. This will involve…

  • Buy some equipment to use at the youth club. We will need… so that we can...

  • Conduct a survey in the town to identify practical projects young people could get involved in. We’ll do this by….

Please attach a high-level project budget

N.B.

  • For Growing Lives applications, please bear in mind that whilst you should include both capital and revenue costs if at all possible, Growing Lives grants are only awarded towards - and calculated on the basis of - capital costs (typically buildings and equipment costs). Salaries and other running/revenue costs are not supported. Therefore please ensure your budget includes all relevant capital costs as a minimum.

  • For Hope Beyond applications, capital costs, and revenue costs to the end of 2021 can be supported, but all costs should clearly relate to enabling new ways of working and the introduction of new and/or enhanced support and activities to meet changing need in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Relevant costs such as these should be included in your budget. Revenue costs beyond the end of 2021 may be included in your budget but must be clearly separated out from costs to the end of 2021.

General 'business as usual'/core costs are not supported, and whilst they may be included in your budget if you wish, must be clearly described as such, and separated out from 'project-related' costs as described above.
